Tai Chi, literally translated as “supreme ultimate,” is an ancient Chinese practice dating back more than one thousand years. Combined with Qigong, meaning “Qi exercise,” the practice is primarily used to promote good health and well being. In simple terms, Tai Chi is the practice of mind and body working in harmony using principles of nature to cultivate one’s chi energy for overall health and balance.
The steps follow a natural flow; learn to breathe efficiently to calm mind and body…
- Calm body leads to relaxed muscles and joints…
- Relaxed body allows chi to move freely…
- Qi moves freely as the calm mind directs it…
- Efficiency of motion and focus leads to reduced stress and improved health.
And so on… Tai Chi also has a history as a martial art. A series of moves, or “form” provides movement and application, enhancing physical balance and strengthening Qi. The movements are simple and gentle, yet internally powerful. Everyone can benefit and everyone can learn Tai Chi. It is said that Chi is the Mind’s Breath. By following simple techniques expressed in nature and in combination with principles of Yin and Yang, learning Tai Chi can quickly bring positive results to overall health. If stress can cause poor health, it’s certainly true that mental calm can bring good health. Learn Tai Chi and find the path to mental and physical balance, serenity, and well being!
